Terre Nere 2024 Etna Bianco
Terre Nere 2024 Etna Bianco
Customarily, producers on Mount Etna would use some of their native white varities with their Nerello rossos. Instead, in 2005, the venerable Marco de Grazia opted to blend the Catarratto, Inzolio, Grecanico, and Minnella, with his Carricante. And it works! The 2024 is citrus driven by orange blossom, orange zest, and saline. Perfectly weighted and really expansive on the mid-palate. The fruit and acid are in perfect harmony while the saline component adds dimension. Unique, distinct, and really versatile on the table. Limited

Basically I wanted to remove the white grapes that, in the old vines, it was customary to plant in small quantities mixed with the reds, to make my Etna Rosso with just Nerello. The white grapes were a blend of native varietals: Carricante, Catarratto, Inzolia, Grecanico and Minnella.
