Unlike some of the Chianti we feature require some cellaring to hit their stride, the Montesecondo is ready to go although it still has the structure to age well for another five years or so. What we love about it is that it reminds us of good clean old-school Chianti with pristine fruit on both the nose and palate enhanced with a hit of earth. Enjoy with just about anything that you would drink red wine with. “The 2023 Chianti Classico is a pretty rich, heady wine, its modes 13% alcohol notwithstanding. Intense dark fruit, leather, cedar, menthol, licorice and dried herbs fill out the layers in this powerful, large-scaled Chianti Classico from proprietor Silvio Messana. Drink through 2033.” - 91 Vinous
