The name of the game here is purity. The essence of Sangiovese on full display; no makeup. Perhaps more high pitched than you might expect, this wine still has so much to offer with notes of red currants, wild cherries, blood orange, bay leaves, rose petals, and dusty earth. Just a delicious little drinker that hits the spot on a weeknight with pizza, red sauces, and, well, you get the point.
Once labeled Chianti Colli Senesi (an appelations many producers in Montalcino us for vineyards marginally outside DOC(G) boundaries), "Troncone" comes from vines at the highest point on the Ragnaie Estate which is a gorgeous little amphitheater perched at 600 meters.
