Geek Alert: Founded just a few centuries ago in 1475, the current Bourdys represent the 16th generation of producing wine, in what has been epicenter of Jura's revival. The prodigiously mustachioed Jean-François Bourdy handed winemaking reigns to his daughter Laura Bourdy in 2022. The wines from one of France's oldest estate have always been compelling but Laura's work felt like the quality, across the board, had ratcheted up a few levels when we tasted through their lineup recently. The Chardonnay stood out as being extremely terroir driven - unlike any Chardonnay from any where else. Elèvage is very long (36-48 months) in up to 80 year old neutral barrels. Pure and intricate aromas and flavors. The acid profile is incredible as it gradually crescendos into a mouthwatering finish. Curious and classy. If you plan to try now don't hesitate to decant.
