Along with Clos Rougeard (we have some of this too), this is the Loire’s most sought-after Cabernet Franc, offering Clos Rougeard-level quality at a fraction of the price. Since production is tiny and the wines age beautifully, they are treasures for any serious Loire or Cabernet Franc lover. The 2021 vintage in the Loire produced fresh, elegant wines with precision and lift, making La Charpentrie especially vibrant and terroir-driven, with aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant, violets, and graphite. The palate is elegant yet powerful, showing red and black fruits, herbal spice, and chalky minerality, all wrapped in fine, persistent tannins. This wine will only improve for up to two decades and live happily for another 10+ years after that.
