David Moreau 2023 Bourgogne Rouge, Sous Montot

To say that David Moreau is a winemaker on the rise is an understatement.  David worked for six years at Lamy and Domaine de la Romanée Conti.  Now, working mainly in Santenay, David is issuing brilliant wines that, well, cost a whole lot less than those of his former employer - for now.  The 2023 Sous Montot shows the vintage’s bright fruit and balance, but it is the wines gout de terroir that takes center stage.  Yes, even this “humble Bourgogne Rouge” shows real class and detail with it’s soil-driven nose and palate.  There is a lot going on here, especially at the price.  Enjoy now and over the next seven years.
