Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2022 Cotes du Rhone Rouge
Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2022 Cotes du Rhone Rouge
The “Baby Beaucastel” is no ordinary Cotes-du-Rhone. The Coudoulet vineyard is immediately adjacent to the Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape vineyard but was not included in the appellation created in 1936. On the same limestone plateau with the same “galets” the Coudoulet is a blend of 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 20% Syrah & 20% Cinsault made in the same way as the Beaucastel Chateauneuf. The main difference is that the Beaucastel Chateauneuf is extremely full-bodied, more structured and burdened with more alcohol. The 2022 Coudoulet Cotes-du-Rhone is remarkably fresh and vibrant with modest alcohol (for the region). “Packed with intense raspberry and strawberry amid licorice and violets, the 2022 Côtes-du-Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel is showing well. It’s almost as if the lively aromas jump out of the glass. Sapid and round, this is destined to be a serious Coudoulet. Drink 2025-2032.” 90-92 Vinous + 91 Wine Advocate + 92 Decanter.
