Clos Cibonne 2023 Tibouren Rosé, Cuvee Speciale des Vignettes, Cotes de Provence
Clos Cibonne 2023 Tibouren Rosé, Cuvee Speciale des Vignettes, Cotes de Provence
Geek Alert: this is a singular rosé. The Clos Cibonne estate is located some 800 meters from the Mediterranean Sea in beautiful sunny Provence. There are a couple of key elements that set this rosé apart from all others. First, it's the only known rosé made from the antique varietal Tibouren, which is indigenous to the area. Second, the Cuvée Speciale de Vignettes is raised in giant 100+ year old foudres under a "fleurette" (a thin layer of yeast or "sous voile" in the Jura). The result is like nothing else. The Cuvée Speciale de Vignette ages well. Recently I enjoyed the 2015 which was spectacular. Indeed, the last bottle I enjoyed upon opening was even more exciting on the second day. The Cuvée Spéciale des Vignettes is very complex on both the palate and the nose, is food-friendly, refreshing and above all, delicious. Although different, if you enjoy the great Viña Tondonia Rosado from Lopez de Heredia, then you need to try this wine! Very limited - first come, first served.
