At a recent tasting featuring wines from the importer, Kermit Lynch, we were surprised when comparing notes after the tasting at how impressed we were with this inexpensive Cabernet Sauvignon. Located just outside the AOC of Pic Saint Loup, this red comes from 55 year old vines and offers aromas of sun-warmed blackberries and a hint of southern French "garrigue" - the fragrant, scrubby wild herbs which includes thyme, lavender, juniper & rosemary. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture and flavors of dark fruit, black tea, and a touch of spice. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, and the finish is long and satisfying. This is a tasty and approachable Cabernet Sauvignon that’s ready to go.
