White wine of the summer!?!? Salina is one of the small Aeolian islands off the northeast coast of Sicily. Simply put, for me, this is about as exciting a new release white wine as I’ve had in a while. It checks off pretty much all the boxes that I’m looking for in dry white wine: complexity, balance, soaring aromatics, flavor intensity, nice body, refreshing, terroir-driven, very food-friendly, and !*#$%@^* delicious! There are a lot of clones of Malvasia so this is probably different than any you may have had before. The Infatata is from a vineyard that climbs up the side of an ancient volcano and has aromas of the open sea and wet stones with floral and mandarin orange notes. The awesome palate is medium-bodied with a core of minerality running though it along with perfect lush tangerine and peach fruit balanced by fresh acidity. A wine of intrigue and deliciousness.
