Want some insider-Champagne cred? Here you go. Yes, that Bérêche name sounds familiar because Pauline’s husband Raphael Bérêche is the winemaker at the famous Domaine Bérêche et Fils, our best selling Champagne producer and one of the leading lights of Grower Champagne. Upon tasting the second “sample” bottle this month, I found myself having a hard time taking notes rather than just enjoying the hedonistic pleasure of this Champagne. One unique characteristics of this Champagne is the use of a small proportion of Petit Meslier, a grape variety that often did not ripen in the past, but now provides firmness and freshness. Pretty damn tasty now, this should only gain in complexity over the next ten years or so. Extremely limited.
