Planted in 1910, Dolinsek is a field blend based around Zinfandel with Alicante, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Golden Chasselas/Palomino and even a small amount of Barbera and Black Muscat.
Both the nose and palate reminded me of old-school Russian River Zin from the ‘90s from Williams Selyem. Beautifully defined blueberry and blackberry fruit laced with anise and even a note reminiscent of lavender oil. Balancing the beautiful fruit, the wine also possesses vibrant acidity and sneaky, well-integrated tannins will allow it to age for up to 10 years.
