This is serious Red Burgundy. Baillot’s 2023 Les Charmots offers just about everything Burgundy lovers seek: dark cherry fruit, earthy complexity, fine tannins, and a long, mineral finish, all anchored by a serious Premier Cru site. Indeed, Pommard's signature depth and structure aligned with the freshness, perfume, and silky texture that make great Pinot Noir irresistible are on full display here. Aromas of black cherries, black tea, iron and damp forest floor segue to the delicious palate featuring ripe black cherry and blackberry, complemented by an earthy soil signature providing subtle savory notes on the long finish. Polished tannins allow for this wine to be enjoyed with gusto now, but give it the structure to allow it to improve in complexity for at least 15 years.
