Collection: Pertimali

$53.99 bottle / $299.94($49.99) six-pack

Livio Sassetti’s Pertimali Estate on the north side of the Montalcino hill is, along with Felsina’s Rancia vineyard, my favorite terroir in Tuscany.  Pertimali offers all the richness and power that Brunello di Montalcino is famous for, but offers it with a sense of balance and finesse that escapes most Brunello.  Best of all is the terroir expression that is Pertimali.  2019 is an outstanding vintage in Montalcino and Pertimali is a shining example of why.  Surprisingly approachable now with hearty food, this wine will improve for 10 - 15 years and continue to cellar for years more (I still have a few bottles from the ‘90s in the cellar).  This wine competes very favorably with other Brunello cost three times as much making it possibly the greatest deal in Brunello di Montalcino, if not all of Tuscany.

Very limited supply, so act fast.

2019 Livio Sassetti Pertimali Brunello di Montalcino $53.99 bottle / $299.94($49.99) six-pack

“The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a spice box of a wine, opening with a burst of camphor and dried flowers, giving way to crushed blackberries, sage and cloves. This is surprisingly energetic and racy in style. Vibrant acidity propels depths of dark red fruits and inner floral as salty minerals saturate. The 2019 finishes structured and long yet still lively, leaving violet inner florals and hints of currant to taper off slowly. The combination of power, depth and energy makes this impossible to ignore. Drink 2026 - 2039.” - 95 Vinous + 95 Wine Spectator & 95 James Sucking
