We had the good fortune to taste with Giacomo Bartolommei of Caprili a couple of weeks ago and were very, very impressed with his 2022 Rosso di Montalcino and 2019 Burnello di Montalcino. For years, Caprili has made not just good, but great Brunello, all the while flying under the radar because they don't have a marketing arm.  With most of the great 2019 Brunello di Montalcinos costing well over $75.00, the 2019 Caprili offers thrilling Brunello at a more affordable price.  Caprili has long been one of our favorite Brunello producers because they offer wonderfully complex Brunello that can be enjoyed young or cellared for many years. 

The 2019 Brunello offers a thrilling nose and a rich, well-balanced palate with power and elegance to spare.  Beautiful fruit complements this earth-driven Brunello.  Fantastic concentration and depth.

This is racy and sleek, with cooling acidity and mineral tones that excite the palate. Juicy acidity enlivens tart wild berry fruits. The 2019 finds its center through the finish, as fine tannins emerge and a crunchy sensation lingers. Licorice and bitter blackberry notes taper off slowly. In a word, fantastic.
