2013 André Robert, Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, Terre du Mesnil, Le Mesnil sur Oger, Champagne $99.99 bottle / $539.94($89.99)six-pack
Grower Champagne alert: In March we featured André Robert’s non-vintage Blanc de Blanc, Les Jardins du Mesnil, which became our best selling Champagne of the year in a flash. It’s great. Robert’s 2013 Terre du Mesnil is spectacular. Once again, we bought every bottle available in the state and ordered more from the importer. This is not just classic Blanc de Blancs, this is classic Le Mesnil sur Oger - the heartland of Blanc de Blanc Champagne.  Other than 2008, 2013 is my favorite vintage in Champagne for Blanc de Blanc in last 30 or so years. Aged in older, neutral oak, the Terre du Mesnil is a chiseled (no malo), ultra-pure Blanc de Blanc shimmering with Le Mesnil sur Oger minerality.  Aromas of Meyer lemon, brioche, white flowers and chalk segue to the precise palate that offers perfect fruit, citrus, and a reprise of chalky minerality. Enjoy now, or better yet cellar and watch this Champagne continue to unfurl and gain in complexity over the next ten to fifteen years.  For fans of top-end, age-able, Blanc de Blanc, this wine compares very favorably with great vintages of Salon ($999), Pierre Peters’ Les Chetillons ($150), and Diebolt-Vallois’ Fleur du Passion ($140). Really.

2019 Inama, Soave Classico, Vigneti di Foscarino $25.99 bottle / $147.00($24.50) six-pack
Deep and very expansive on the palate - the richest wine in this offer. Drink through 2034. “The 2019 Soave Classico Carbonare is pretty and understated, yet with a lovely sweetness mixing peach with stone dust and hints of wet slate. This is round yet delicate, with a salty flourish that evolves into tart orchard fruits and spice. A primary concentration saturates long through the structured finale, with a citrus rind intensity that lingers. This is a hugely promising and powerful vintage of Carbonare.” - 93 Vinous

2019 Prá, Soave Classico, Monte Grande $29.99 bottle / $171.00($28.50) six-pack
This !$#@$! is good! Yeah, it really is. Already delicious, this wine has so much potential ahead of it. Rich, but not heavy, with clean fruit and great mineral-action. Enjoy through 2039. “The 2019 Soave Classico Monte Grande lifts from the glass to show kiwi and crushed stone, along with pretty honeyed florals, in an airy and wonderfully fresh display. It’s intense and sharply focused, also quite mineral in style with orange zests and is salty to the core. This tapers off long, with residual acids keeping the mouth watering. It’s a classic in the making. Monte Grande is a blend of 70% Garganega and 30% Trebbiano di Soave, which is left to dry on the vines for an extra month after the first harvest.” - 94 Vinous

2016 Olga Raffault, Chinon, Less Picasses $28.99
I don’t mean to sound like a broken record but… longtime readers of this column know that traditionally-minded Olga Raffault is not just our favorite producer of Chinon, but of Cabernet Franc grown anywhere in the world. The Les Picasses vineyard is one of the finest in Chinon, thus making it one of the finest Cabernet Franc vineyards in the world. Fifty+ year old vines grown on clay with a limestone base combined with minimalist winemaking give us one amazing Chinon. The 2016 is one of the most structured young Les Picasses I’ve ever had. Still, this wine is all about the earthy, minerally side of Chinon; beautiful raspberry fruit supports leather and soil tones, framed by mouth watering acidity and fine-grained tannins with amazing finesse. While the 2016 Olga Raffault Les Picasses is certainly very enjoyable to drink now with charcuterie, grilled fatty ribeye or a simple pork shoulder roast, this wine will improve as it ages effortlessly in the cellar through 2040. I've had the pleasure of enjoying the 1978, 1989 and 1995 over the past few years and flipped over all three vintages. I'm confident the 2016 will join the ranks of the above trio of mature vintages.

2016 Val di Suga, Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany $54.89
This may be the last great Brunello (100% Sangiovese) from the epic 2016 Tuscan vintage. Certainly, it’s a contender for the best Brunello deal of this vintage as well as one of my personal favorites. Aromatically, texturally and flavor-wise, this big red is all about precision and balance. Get it while you still can. “There’s something savory and slightly rustic about the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino that I find quite attractive. Baked black cherries, balsamic spice and hints of animal musk form up to create a beguiling display. The textures are silky-smooth, with cooling acids and salty minerals lifting the expression while giving way to tart red fruits…the 2016 comes across as both youthfully structured but also spicy and fresh. This is a blend of Val di Suga’s vineyards throughout Montalcino, refined all in large Slavonian oak. Drink through 2034” - 92 Vinous Also: 94 Jeb Dunnuck, 93 Wine Spectator, 94 James Suckling.
