Sake Advent Calendar $299.99
I've known Paul for almost as long as I've owned Sec Wines. We've drank great Champagne together and of course, local Pinot. I'm excited to share his latest project, the only Sake Advent Calendar. The perfect gift for someone wanting to get into Sake, or who already loves it! The enormous box contains twenty-three 180ml collectable cups of sake, plus one full-size bottleto enjoy on Christmas Eve. That's over four liters of sake, all hand-chosen by Namazake Paul. Many of these sake brands have never imported to the USA before! Most of the cups are glass with painted art — perfectly reusable for water cups, picnics or cut flowers. The box also includes an accompanying handbook written by Namazake Paul and 33 Books to learn the background on each sake, plus key terminology and a place to record tasting notes. Everyone will get the same sake on each day so they can compare with friends or join the online discussion via #sakecalendar on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Behind every door is a cup for each day representing every major style of sake, including Futsu-shu, Honjozo, Junmai, Ginjo, Daiginjo, Namachozo, Yamahai, Kimoto and Nigori. The adventure awaits! Don’t know what all of those terms mean? This is why you need the Sake Advent Calendar! The beautiful box art by Kayla Swanson embodies the Japanese concept of “kawaii,” meaning adorable or cute. People will love displaying the Sake Advent Calendar as a holiday decoration. The Namazake Paul Advent Calendar is the perfect gift for the hardcore Advent Calendar collector looking for something new, Sake geek, friend wanting to get into Sake or, frankly, just treat yourself!

2020 Felsina, Chianti Classico Riserva, Rancia, Tuscany $51.99 bottle
Rancia is usually my favorite wine of Tuscany in more vintages than not. It runs circles around other Chianti Classicos and Brunellos costing three times as much, making it one of the greatest values in Italian wine - period. In terms of age-worthiness and complexity only the very best Brunello di Montalcinos can stand alongside Rancia after 15-30 years or more in the cellar. I’m still enjoying the 1985 and 1990 Rancia in my cellar. The 2019 Felsina “normale” is my favorite vintage of this bottling in many, many years, and the 2019 Rancia doesn’t disappoint - it rocks! “Darker fruit on the nose with walnut, spice box, incense and espresso bean, too. Medium-bodied, firm and structured with polished tannins and a creamy, compact mid-palate. Quality dark oak spice throughout. Long and rich.” - 95 James Suckling

2019 Giacomo Fenocchio, Barolo, Piedmont $55.99
This is incredibly good Barolo “normale” - significantly better than many single cru Barolo that cost two and three times the price. Giacomo Fenocchio is the source of some of the best traditional Barolo being made, yet is somehow still under the radar for many Piemontese enthusiasts. The wines receives great press and scores year in and year out, but somehow goes unnoticed by the tastemakers that send comparable Barolo into unicorn status and the price into the stratosphere. This wine is, by far, the most Barolo for the money we’ve come across from the great 2019 vintage. “The 2019 Barolo pours a deep ruby and comes from a single parcel just outside of Bussia in Monforte d'Alba. It saw 40 days of maceration and was fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged in 25- to 35-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks. Alluring and ripe, it reveals notes of balsamic, black cherry, and purple flowers. This medium-bodied red has moderate tannins, with elegant freshness throughout, and expresses wild raspberry fruit and dusty earth. It is an outstanding value.” - 92 Jeb Dunnuck This is an incredible value.

2015 Chateau Pradeaux, Bandol Rouge, Provence $45.89 bottle
Fans of old-school Bandol take note - this is the real deal. This is not one of those gussied up, lipstick sporting, glossy juice-ball Bandols. 95% Mourvedre, the 2015 (great vintage in Provence) Bandol Rouge offers an ethereal nose and the promise of greatness with some additional bottle age. The palate is opulent, structured and balanced with dark fruit surrounded by notes of herbs de Provence, leather, wild game and a strong soil signature. The perfect food partner with cassoulet, garlicky lamb dishes and the like. Enjoy now with hearty fare, or better yet, through 2025-2040 for additional complexity. Awesome Bandol.
