The Les Combottes vineyard sits high up on the hill just slightly around the bend from the famous grand cru of Corton. This blessed site typically displays highly aromatic, mineral-driven wines and Delarche’s version is a perfect example of this chiseled style. Aromas of wet stones intermingle with scents of lime zest, ginger, and green apple. The linear palate has a quiet presence that expands with a little time in the glass with flavors that reprise the aromatics. The mid-palate is intense while a strong core and tangy and salty minerals with just enough fleshy fruit to compel the stony finish. This 3.99 hectare monopole (entirely owned by a single winery) owned by Faiveley since the 1930s, consistently produces wines that rival many Côte d'Or offerings at a fraction of the price. The nose features ultra pure Pinot Noir fruit with cherry and violets and a hint of earth. On the palate, this wine transcends typical Givry expectations. The texture is remarkably refined - silky and polished with the kind of sophistication usually associated with premier cru wines from Volnay.  This wine has very good balance with the fruit being framed by silky tannins and nice acidity. It must be stated that the 2024 vintage was very difficult for growers here with frost in the spring and rains in the fall, yet, this wine's quality did not suffer. The palate is delectable and buoyant, offering white peach fruit sustained by a high line of lemony acidity with a long and compelling finish. The vineyard Ez Blanches sits high on the slope, between forest and the top premier cru vineyard, ‘Clos des Chênes.’ Soils are truly “blanches” or white, with thin topsoil on solid limestone, and produce a structured, mineral-driven Pinot Noir with tangy red fruits and fresh herbs.  This wine is already incredibly perfumed with aromas of violets, earth and plummy fruit.  The super-silky palate is expressive of both red fruit and a strong limestone mineral gout de terroir. Already delicious, it will only improve and gain in complexity over the next decade.  With  Red Burgundy prices being what they are, this represents a really good value too.
